Week 21....Who Ya Goin' To Call? Ghostbusters!

Tjena tjena!! (Howdy, Howdy)

Happy Halloween alihopa!

This week was a good week. It's getting way chilly here, colder and colder by the day. It may snow next week which would be awesome, but we'll see. The time changed this week so we got an extra hour of sleep which felt great, especially because me and Äldste Young's pillow talk has been running late this week. ha-ha He's a solid dude.

I had a spooky experience this week which is pretty fitting given that Halloween is coming up! So last Sunday, an older lady named I, came up to us and said that she will be living with her daughter for 2ish months while she has work done on her apartment. But she said that she doesn't feel very safe being there. So, I asked her why, and she said that they think a spirit is in the house. They will hear someone walking down the stairs, or knocking on the walls but they look and nothing is there. The spirit hasn't disturbed or hurt anyone which is good, but she asked that we say a blessing (or a prayer pretty much) over the house. So, Tuesday morning we went to her house and I said a prayer blessing the house that any evil spirits or unwanted spirits would not be there any longer, and that it can be a place of safety and God's good love. She thanked us and we were on our way.. We saw her on Sunday and she came speedily walking up to us (can't run bc she's like 80), and said that the spirit went away. They hadn't heard anything since we blessed the house. Sooo me and Äldste Young are kind of the ghostbusters, using the good power of God to cast out evil spirits. Ha ha, but freals, it was a really cool experience to see that God's power here on earth, what we call the priesthood, works and can work miracles.

Wednesday I was on splits with Äldste Jarman. He is also fresh from the MTC and he's getting trained in Örebro but came to Västerås for the day. Super nice guy, hard worker, and it was inspiring to see how confident he was with the language and the capabilities he has. He had been talking about how much he wanted Subway, so we went to stan for dinner and snagged some Subway. Mine was way good, he got the Spicy Italian and about an hour or two later he got a bad headache. It was time to head back to the apartment and like 10 mins after we were back in the apartment he books it to the bathroom and gets sick to his stomach. It was a total bummer because he looked forward to that Subway for 2 months now, and the bathroom smelled like straight spicy Italian. But he felt better after. Whatta champ! We also had some super good lessons together while on splits. Hopefully more to come on those.

Saturday, we had Höstfest, basically the ward Halloween party. We played games, ate good food, tasty Swedish desserts, they had a trunk or treat too ha ha. It's funny because they were announcing that they were doing a trunk or treat like they have in America, and that they were having pumpkin pie that comes from America too! It's just odd to see how much other countries look at the stuff we do in America.

My spiritual thought for the week comes from a classic scripture in Moroni 10. Verse 5 says: “And by the power of the Holy Ghost, ye shall know the truth of all things.”
I have had lessons where the Swedish language wasn't coming super well, or they seem disinterested, or maybe there's some contention because they disagree with some of our beliefs. But! When we testify of the Book of Mormon or Jesus Christ or other spiritual things, their whole countenance changes and you can tell that God's spirit is telling them that our message is true. I alone couldn't teach or convert anyone, but it's only with the help of the Holy Ghost that people can personally feel the truth and God's love.

Thanks for the emails, jag älskar er! (I love you)
Jag hoppas att ni har en jättebra vecka! ( I hope you have a great week!)

American Trunk or Treat (sorry for the bad quality)

We helped someone clean out their garden and they gave us some of their potatoes for dinner.
