Week 44-- Glad I Listened to Dad When Fixin' Cars
Hejsan! (Hello there!)
This week we've been crazy busy so it flew by, always good
:)
Update on P, he was in the hospital because of
problems with his legs so the baptism is moved to some time in the future. He
also may be moving north to Luleå and there are some other contributing factors
to the situation so we'll see what happens, but keep him in your prayers!
We dropped a few investigators this week because of lack of
progress. It happens haha giving them a break sometimes is what's needed. But!
Kjell, the president of the congregation here, said he felt prompted to have us
knock doors in a specific area so in about 1 or 2 hours there we found 3 people
who are now being taught and a few more that we have yet to meet up with.
We got a random call last night from a previous investigator and he said, "Is this Elder Gordon and Strong?" and we said, "Yes!". He
said he had been taught last summer and was going to get baptized but then
decided to take a different path, but lately he's been really thinking about
what they taught and he wants forgiveness from God and to be baptized. He's
30yo, a swede too (bc sometimes you get calls from immigrants saying they wanna
be baptized just so they can get residency easier ha ha). So that was a miracle
that he called us up. He seems super positive, we're meeting him this week.
N, an investigator of ours, needed some help changing the
brake pads on his car so we got into some regular clothes ( not white shirt, tie and slacks, which feels gooood)
and went to help out. He asked if we knew how because he had no experience and
I said yes because of all the times I'd watched my dad do it (even though I
don't really remember), but a big thanks to Papi because it all came back
when we started into the job :)
We had Elder Erdman and Hughes in Skelelfteå for a day this
week. It felt a bit bizarre just because we never get visitors in Skellefteå,
let alone other missionaries in our small apartment. It was a solid time though
hanging out with them and doing some solid sessions of contacting out on the
main street in stan.
My spiritual thought for the week is a simple one and it
comes from a scripture in Moroni 7:12
"Wherefore, all things which are good cometh of God; and that which is evil cometh of the devil; for the devil is an enemy unto God, and fighteth against him continually, and inviteth and enticeth to sin, and to do that which is evil continually." I love the simplicity of this. It's black and
white. Something is either good or bad, either true or false. We make this
point to those we teach, that the Book of Mormon is either true or false, and
we tell them exactly what they need to do to find out. The Gospel is simple,
and I'm grateful for it's simplicity. It can be understood by all and all can
be blessed by it.
I love you all!
Äldste Gordon
