Week 94/95--- Busy, Busy, Service and Thank You IKEA for making moving easy!
Week 94
Tjabba tjabba!
Another week flown by! These last 3 weeks have been some of
the busiest on my mission so far, filled with teaching and some service.
Some service we did this week was helping a family in the
ward move. After helping with this move I realized a few things that are
different between America and Sweden: It is a lot easier to move people here
because they generally live in smaller houses/apartments which means they have
a lot less stuff and the stuff they have is light-weight because it's all IKEA
furniture🙌
Besides that, I feel like a theme for this week for me has
been talking to people just about their existing a God. A dude got onto the
trolley this week, lookin a little wired on something but nonetheless, had a
sweet braided beard, so naturally from a few seats away after making eye contact
say "nice beard man!" he moved on over and we started chatting. They
at some point usually ask why I'm here or they see the name tag so we got
talking about religion and the Bible and such. Turns out this guy is an
alcoholic, a very firm athiest, and looks like he could play the actor of
Jesus. After crackin open a cold brewsky pulled out of his coat pocket, we had
a long conversation about a possible existence of God. While the conversation
ended in him saying "I hope you wake up", the guy left with a Book of
Mormon in his hand and I left determined to study a bit more about the simple
belief of a God's existence.
After this week's studies in Alma 30, found in the Book of Mormon, (please don't just
start skimming over this paragraph because I cited a scripture), I basically
found from the story of Korihor (a guy denying that there is a God) that it is
impossible to say that there is not a God. You can say I don't
believe in a God, but you can't deny that it is possible a God can exist. So if
He exists, all that is left to finding out if he is there is just trying Him,
see if he's there. That's pretty much where the people of Sweden are at. We
work mainly just trying to help those that say "I believe in a higher
power but don't know what it is" which is like 90% of Sweden. It's helped
build a stronger testimony that there is a God and He is always aware of His children.
Hej!
I'm super pressed for time this week but had some cool
experiences!
Here are highlights:
1. We spent pday out on the south islands of Gothenburg
called Brännö and Galterö. We did a nice couple hour hike along the island
coast through the forest to an old army base. Weather was sunny and 40's, but
pretty windy. Kungsbacka Elders came along, it's always fun hiking around with
them.
2. We've been teaching a bunch. People we've met randomly
and have talked to on travel here and there have turned out to be positive so
we're staying busy!
3. Splits with Elder Fronk again. Had a sweet day out
knocking doors and found a dad with 2 kids who we got to come back 2 days later
and teach!
I'm nice and busy and happy. running full speed until I return to 'Merica!
